One of the biggest things you can do to ensure your wedding day is the best it can be is to surround yourself with amazing wedding vendors.
How can you make sure they are amazing?
There are a few ways.
You can get recommendations.
I supply my couples with recommendations for vendors I have worked with and they can 100% count on to take care of them.
You can research them and read their past reviews.
OKAY, MADELINE… WHAT IF I LITERALLY HAVE TO VET THEM MYSELF?
I got your back, like a sweater.
I’ve chatted with industry professionals to come up with the top 5 questions you should be asking your (potential) wedding vendors.
QUESTIONS TO ASK ALL OF YOUR POTENTIAL VENDORS:
1. HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN UNHAPPY CLIENT? HOW DID YOU HANDLE IT?
Chances are if they are seasoned professionals, they’ve had one unhappy client. That’s not always a bad thing. Hearing how they handled it, or how they would handle an unhappy client is good insight on how they will approach any problematic situations.
2. WHAT WAS THE HARDEST SITUATION YOU’VE ENCOUNTERED DURING A WEDDING DAY? HOW DID YOU HANDLE THAT?
No wedding day goes perfectly. There are little things that are completely out of everyone’s control: it starts raining cats and dogs, the wind picks up like crazy – you name it, professional vendors have basically dealt with it.
3. CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR WORKFLOW AND HOW YOU APPROACH THE WEDDING DAY?
Some vendors are more laid back and have a “go with the flow” mentality. Some vendors are very type A and take charge. The biggest thing is to make sure that you listen to their responses and really see if that’s what you’re needing.
4. HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU WORK PER YEAR?
Many professional vendors limit the number of weddings they work per year to ensure their couples receive nothing but the best experience.
5. DO YOU HAVE A CONTRACT?
If they say no, RUN.
Do not ever hire a wedding vendor without a contract. Contracts are to protect the vendor and YOU. It clearly states what you are paying for and what you are receiving.
HAPPY WEDDING PLANNING!
